I enjoyed experimenting with

the red cupcakes so much

I got stuck into the other food colorings

and

made some pink and green ones

with

good old vanilla buttercream

Rainbow Cake

I love the idea of cake in jars and was so in love with the rainbow cake on The Family Kitchen that I mixed up a batch of my own. My brother-in-law Kyle took them to work for his birthday. It's amazing what the colors do to one's imagination because apparently they tasted like ice-cream (they were plain vanilla with food coloring).

I love how the colors stained the cupcake papers and created a tie-dye sort of effect

I put a few aside and my cousins and I sat around drinking coffee (I drank the pot of coffee) and eating cake all night. I would include a picture but the kitchen was still a huge mess!

Flower Power

I love plain old vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, but they can look a bit boring. I loved creating these flowers to brighten up otherwise plain cupcakes.
