Yesterday was my mom's birthday!
My mom, Cicely, and a scowling me
Our family LOVE peanut butter cups so I took my cue from The Family Kitchen and made peanut butter cup cakes in jars.
I don't usually follow recipes, for this one I made a chocolate brownie mixture. I blended peanut butter and icing sugar together until it had a doughy consistency, rolled into lengths to fit the jars and froze (so that they would stand upright in the jar).
I was a bit apprehensive about baking in glass, but I followed the instructions and placed the jars in an oven dish of warm water. I found that it took longer to bake than normal (about 45 minutes). That could just be because my oven isn't hot enough.
I melted chocolate and poured it over the top of each cake. Unfortunately I didn't have milk chocolate but white chocolate worked just as well.
Has anyone else tried the cakes in jars? Please let me know how they've turned out!
Happy baking!
