For Rob's birthday I gave him my new cake recipe book and let him choose his birthday cake. He chose the chocolate bourbon (with cuppaccino cream) cake that I've been raving about on my facebook page..... no suprises there!
I contemplated cupcakes versus cake versus slab cake and eventually settled on the slab cake based on the quantities I had to make. I ended up making four large slab cakes, one to share with our families, two for Rob to take to the office and a fourth for our friends.

I must admit - this cake was such a HUGE success that I'm feeling very selfish and don't want to share the recipe! Of the four cakes I only managed to grab myself once piece.
Rob was very excited about his birthday presents (a trip to Taiwan and Taipei 101, and a Subaru rally drive)
Spring is here (in the Southern Hemisphere) and we're already having very summery warm weather. I'm contemplating Orange Yoghurt cake for this weekend.
