Love's Little Delights

My sister got engaged at the end of 2008 and asked me to bake cupcakes for the engagement party. This was my first real attempt at baking and decorating on a large scale so I decided to keep it simple.

I used a basic vanilla cake recipe. Each cupcake was topped off with white marshmallow fondant (see www.cakejournal.com for the recipe) and a pink heart. The pink hearts were made with the extra marshmallow fondant and some tylo powder so that they dried hard. To get the marbled effect I added some pink food colouring and didn't knead it in properly.

Biggest lesson learnt - sprinkle the glitter on the hearts before they dry so that it sticks better. I'm a little sad that you can't see the glitter on the hearts.

Anyone have any tips for rolling out fondant really thin without it sticking to the work surface?

Happy baking!
